APPLICATIONS FOR A BGRF PhD SCHOLARSHIP FOR 2024 HAVE NOW CLOSED

Applications for a new PhD scholarship to commence early in 2024 are now closed and the winner will be announced soon. It is likely that a new scholarship (with the same conditions as 2023 below) will be offered in 2024 so please check this website regularly.

Institutions were invited to submit up to two outstanding students for consideration. Applicants must be Victorian residents and able to commence their PhD in early 2024 for completion by December 2026.

This scholarship is intended to assist first-class honours students who have not received an Australian Postgraduate Award or other substantial scholarship. Applicants must have completed tertiary studies that are at least equivalent to a 4-year honours degree at an Australian university with a minimum result of first class honours. Also applicants must have applied for, or be currently enrolled in, a graduate research degree.

Applications from H1 students must include the following:

· 100-200 word summary of their PhD proposal
· Copy of academic transcript and CV
· Letter of support from supervisor

The scholarship will cover two thirds of a full three-year scholarship and students
will be required to seek the additional third from their department or other
sources. Nominations must be received as a hard copy with the applicant’s
name and institution clearly marked on the cover page and also in a single electronic file with the applicant’s name and institution clearly in the subject line to assist with administration.

The closing date for applications in 2023 was 5.00 pm Tuesday 18 July 2023. Institutions were required to email their nominations and applications to commedge@tpg.com.au and to also send one hard copy to:

Julienne Lewis
CEO
BGRF
29/120 Cambridge Street
Collingwood VIC 3066

Please email any enquiries to commedge@tpg.com.au.

The successful applicant will need to provide an annual report of their progress as
well as a final report using our proforma on completion. They will also need to
inform the Foundation of any changes to their original project or reasons for any
delays as soon as they become evident. Failure to do so may result in the forfeiting of the scholarship.

This is a great opportunity for a dedicated student and I hope you will give it
serious consideration.
